Happy New Year! 2011 for me ended with a few days at sea with the family, so now that I’m back in the city, it’s time to think about the year ahead.
My New Years resolutions so far are…
Learn to play the guitar
Take at least one photo a day. I’ve let myself fall into a slump this past year.
Spend more time with the family. I need to take advantage of being in close proximity to all my younger cousins and aunts and uncles, and maybe a trip or two out to visit those living in different cities.
Start teaching
Finish reading books. I’m a slow book collector and an even more slow book reader.
Finish my personal projects that have been lying around or have not yet come to fruition. Stop having brain farts! (if I can help it)
Keep in better contact with my friends, send more mail, make more postcards.
Make more art.

Some pics from our giant family cruise vacation to Cozumel. It’s good to spend quality time with the family, but I’m definitely more of a explore the city and culture kind-a-gal when it comes to vacations.

tea time! Coffee flavored macarons, peach crumble and black tea.

The beef fajitas were so moist and delicious!

Meowy Christmas! It’s been a whirlwind of a week at work so I was really really happy to have the last two days off to spend with the family and sleep in late for the first time in a very long time. My dad and sister collaborated on the hot pot dinner, half Szechuan-style and half sweet chicken broth stewed with fish bones. Nothing beats a steamy hot bowl of noodles on a cold day.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas right now with their families and loved ones. I can’t wait for the new year! New opportunities, and the Phamily cruise to look forward too!
P.S. My dad got a Fender acoustic guitar for Christmas, but I’m going to be taking some lessons of my own this year. Excited!

white nights…

Hanging out with Rocky, our newest member to the Phamily. My sister and her husband just got this white husky a few days ago. He’s only 14 months old, but so big. I’m not much of a dog person (cats rule!), but he’s quiet most of the time, which makes it better to cuddle with on the sofa. Total count so far, 3 dogs, and 3 cats. It’s a good thing they are not living under the same roof.
White spray roses and glitter for a friend’s wedding coming up this Saturday. My hands still have remnants of glitter here and there and I can barely bend one of my knuckles due to super glue, but I’m excited to get this wish tree finished tomorrow.

(Monorail dog joke for avid LOLcat lovers only) These dogs are from the seventies.

Happy Father’s day to my pops, who is a big ol’ cat lover even though he pretends not to be, but I see him leaving the back door ajar in hopes that Maggie or Joey would come outside with him while he tends his garden.

Sunday 5.8.2011

Happy Mother’s day! It’s tradition that every year I give my mom a sweet bouquet of flowers and a hug, so this year, I decided to go with a Victorian-inspired bouquet of garden roses and miniature spray roses and boxwood. The garden roses are blooming along nicely and should be pretty hefty in size by the end of the week.

During their visit in town, we took the kids to the Children’s Museum where they had a blast running around role playing various occupations and learning about different cultures. Some of my favorites. Is this cute overload or what?
