It’s never a good idea to tell myself to stop by Target to “pick up some conditioner,” and especially when I have free time on my hands. It’s like grocery shopping on an empty stomach. All the spring displays were out in full bloom, so I picked up some superfluous items on my way to the shampoo aisle:

comfortable, easy to slip on dresses [influenced by Winona Ryder circa 90's era and Reality Bites glory]
giant boyfriend cardigan
lace up boots [for walking in deep grass and weeds]
patent oxfords [dress it up, dress it down]
fresh flowers, a must! [peonies a preferred standard, but local azaleas, primroses and wildflowers are also great!]
Schwinn season. yay!
Heart purse [an awesome Forever 21 find that I can finally put to use!]

There’s a small field by my old middle school where a group of egrets have begun to commune and idle about. They’re really pretty with pale red markings on their faces. A little something to brighten up things on a very windy and rainy day. It was just cool weather yesterday but today feels like a a snowstorm had just blown through town. Spring is so unpredictable here, but it’s a good excuse to put my rain boots to use. brrrr. (hmm. buttercups remind me of recess and picking flowers for Ms. Margaret)

Hmmm. Beautiful day today. I think I should definitely wake up early more often on my days off, because I get a lot of things done that way. Grabbed some books I’d been wanting to get at Urbans today and had a good time browsing them along with some other recently acquired art books, by the window with the Philistines. [I just put another order in for the Walton Ford's Pancha Tantra, and more big art books so I can't wait for snail mail to arrive. ] Then I took the dogs out for a neighborhood walk. Some kid down the block saw me about 50 feet away and said. “Hola.” I thought he was talking to someone else until he said “hola” again. And then he just went on and asked me if I went to KF High School. I said I did. “Oh do you know Patrick Marcus?” And then it occurred to me that he thinks I am in high school now. I’m secretly flattered and think and laugh maniacally to myself, Yes I still look young, sucka. This deranged disillusionment lasts for a minute, literally, until the boy asks me if I knew Dionne Marcus. And I said no until he ran out of names to ask me.

I’m ready for spring, even though it’s really perfect cardigan weather right now in Houston. I’m really into the muted tones and peaches and creams right now. Nothing like a good breeze blowing a silky blouse against your skin.
