lunch break

day 2:     We met up with Benjamin and Trang for lunch at South Congress cafe before going on our shopping spree. (They have a cute lifestyle blog here) What was intended to be  quick bite ended up being a three hour lunch, but it wasn’t too bad considering they make such delicious bloody mary’s and spending time with friends and good food is always something I enjoy.

… love Trang’s classic and clean style …

… still raining …

… tuna tartar and quail sandwich …

Austin: day 2

weekends

day 2:     Taking a cue from all the stylist bloggers at the Swap party the night before, I decided to resist the urge and go with the trend with a bold statement necklace. This gold piece was a cheap find at Forever 21 so long ago, but I love that looks unique and handcrafted. Day 2 of the conference started out with Speed Mentoring breakfast where we were able to have one on one chats with bloggers and get some feedback on the inner workings of running a successful blog. It’s been almost two years since I started this blog and there’s so much more possibilities that I can do with it. I’m excited about the future for sure. The rest of the day was spent doing what I love most, shopping! It’s always a treat to have time to shop down on South Congress in Austin, and a pit stop by the Madewell store was the perfect end to a long morning.

Linda, from little tin soldier, is sporting one of my favorite pieces at the conference.

… an early birthday present for the sis, a handmade clutch from purse & clutch.  Hand stitched from India through fair trade and the chevron design is so classic.

weekends

Well I just got back from a fun weekend in Austin at the Texas Style Council. The weather was pouring cats and dogs on our drive to Austin and for the most part of the first two nights, but things cleared up enough for us to enjoy the last two days of the trip to shop in nice, breezy weather. I took lots of pictures and met some cool and amazing bloggers and got some awesome swag to take back to Houston.

day 1:     The night started out with a bang at the Swap Party, where everyone was dressed to impressed even though it was pouring rain outside. I scored a beautiful hand-dyed scarf and a cute nude colored dress from Lulu’s that I can’t wait to wear! My friend Trang, from Myth & Symbol, who accompanied me on the trip along with my sister, scored this beautiful coral romper. The pearl detail on the collar really sealed the deal on this dress. We ended the night with dinner at Hopdoddy’s to chow down on some of the best burgers in town. If there’s one thing I really love about Austin, it’s definitely the food options. The portions are just right, and nothing leaves you feeling too bogged down from all the grease.

Every motel and hotel was booked for SXSW, so it was a sweet surprise to have been able to book this quaint little place. The drive was only 15 – 20 minutes from downtown, but two beds and gated security was all I could ask for. Definitely planning further ahead next year!

My slow collection of print dresses for school. School appropriate and just my style!  All inspired by Mrs. Frizzle. Needless to say, I gasped with excitement when I saw this deer print shift dress at Buffalo yesterday.
