Potpourri

My friend Nick, who is a badass geek, and I mean geek in the most complimentary way, posted this link. Prepare to be mind–fucked. It’s pretty neat but so intrusive if you think about.

BTW. why am I still up at 4:50 in the morning?

We took our friends Thomas and Pei to Empire Cafe, one of our favorite spots in Montrose today. They live only a few minutes from the the Montrose area but have yet to explore all the cafes and restaurants around that neighborhood. I’ve been craving some Italian soda lately anyway and Empire makes some p r e t t y good hazelnut flavored cream sodas.  If you’re in the neighborhood you should definitely stop by to try their homemade cakes. Berry white and Hawaiian flavored cakes are so delicious and fluffy and always reminds me of Andrew, who likes to eat his cake before entrees.

Cats / home sweet home

The sun is making all the plants wither in the scorching heat, but we managed to pick these potatoes before it was too late.

Dad’s pepper plants. Once they ripen to red, they’ll be spicy enough to be picked for daily meals. I love spicy but I was never able to manage the heat as well as my family did, who all preferred to take a bite out of a piece of pepper with their meals.

The dogs usually go outside everyday day to get their business down, but it’s a rare treat when I let the cats outside to play. (yes, I’m overprotected mother-hen) Maggie is on a new high today.

dinner & date

Life

I finally took my sister to Broken Spoke for dinner. She’s been skeptical about it ever since I mentioned it several times now, but I think the mussels in spicy tomato sauce have completely altered her opinions for the better. (not sure what that light thing is on her face, must be a reflecting light somewhere) I love that the entrees comes with those delicious crispy fries. The place was not as crowded as last time when I came with a larger party, but we were seated cozily next to a couple who seemed like they were on their first date together. It was awkward being able to hear everything they had to say, but they did end up holding hands by the end of the dinner. Cheers to new love…
