I’m going to try to make this cake for the bridal shower. Cute and full of butter cream deliciousness.
snake skins
I’ve been looking for some snake accessories lately, and these vintage gold belts from the 80’s are what I need to add just the right amount of glitz and glamour into my wardrobe this fall. The last time I was at the Guild Shop, there was a large gold belt similar to that thin one below that I was vying for. Unfortunately someone beat me to it, so I was extra ecstatic when I found these for $10 each at Retroplis today. Everybody wins!

all in all, a good haul
I’ve been shopping a lot lately. I really shouldn’t but its the best time to stock up on vintage coats for winter, and to find amazing pieces at the thrift stores. My sister and I went to Buffalo the other day, and I scored a Sonia Rykiel tuxedo blazer and a wool JCrew blazer, and she found some awesome gold Diane Von Furstenberg sandals. Also, I’m totally addicted to silk and sequins this month. I’ve been wearing all my silk blouses out these past few weeks. [ The weather calls for it. ] And I found this cute sequin embellished jacket at XXI. It’s so light weight with the right amount of sparkle to wear during the daytime. EEGHAD! I can’t wait to layer and wear all my new pieces! Thank gawd its autumn.

I love this grey layered silk blouse. $3!

Silk kimono cardigan. It’s oh so Jackie Collins! [For extra oomph, use fake wind machine, and by fake, I mean my hands waving the cardigan around. You get the idea.]

Birds!

Flocks of birds on power lines above all the heavy traffic in Houston can only mean one thing. AUTUMN is here! And not a minute too soon. The heat wave this summer has been intensely unbearable. And I am definitely ready to bring out all my coats and blazers and silk blouses. Fall fashion is just more well-made and tailored and has more lush fabrics than summer wear. I can’t wait for deep reds and grays, turquoise and golds, and all the accessories!

So hot and gorgeous, these two. I am in love with Michelle Williams’ make up. She looks so beautiful!

Cindy Sherman in the new POP magazine..

Urban jungle. The landscape in Houston is really deplorable.
the Guild Shop
I’ve been obsessed with the Guild Shop. Apparently, its a local gem in Houston, but I’ve only recently just discovered it. My sister and I have been finding all sorts of goodies here. The place is always packed, especially early in the morning on Saturdays, but there’s always so many things to rummage through and possibly take home. So far, we’ve collected a vintage Coca Cola pitcher, a glass cake stand, some amber jars, and I found a set of pencil drawings for only a buck. It’ll be perfect for writing letters. I love this huge Japanese porcelain bowl. When you tap it, it makes a very sweet tinkling sound. [ I heart little details. ]
