Eerily foggy this morning. People seem to be walking slower in this dense cloud, cars appear like apparitions on the road. I wish I had my camera with me for a quick photo session, but alas, these few images from my phone will have to do. It’s been an emotional and chaotic week both in my personal and work life. Maybe this fog is telling me to s l o w down, which is a good thing, because I’m feeling a bit drained right now.

…Anticipating the weekend to spend some time with the family.

Life

A recap of the week through my phone.

… Spending extra time after work lately, but beautiful sunsets like this have made it a bit more bearable.

… Spending time with the sis, enjoying local artwork, meeting artists, seeing old, familiar faces in the crowd…

… Late dinners with loved ones, getting my crawfish fix and discovering new, delicious desserts, like shaved durian flavored ice at Nu Cafe.

… Helping the sis pick out pomegranate trees and spending a bit more time then we expected in the nursery…

… Spending time with Mom at temple and taking things r e a l slow because it’s a three day weekend!

… Catching up with a Revenge marathon and finally watching Argo (it was really really good!)

I’m looking forward to the new semester at school and for Chinese New Year!

I won’t make new years resolutions because I never keep them, but I will make a few mental notes and work on some changes for the better of myself this year. Little things, and small steps at a time.

NUTRITION: So far I’ve been staying on a pretty good track with my nutrition plan. I need to be a bit more conscious of what I eat and so far, I’ve had a serving of fruits everyday by making fresh smoothies the minute I come home from work. As for grocery shopping, I’ve been a bit more mindful of reading product labels and even though I love meats, I’ve managed to buy more fresh meats as opposed to frozen or processed ones. Gluten-free meats have also been on my radar and lots and lots of veggie snacks in between meals, especially on those long school days, a few  carrot sticks goes a long way. And oh yeah, yesterday I ate my last McDonald’s chicken sandwich and fries. Let’s see how long I can go without fast food. Today is day one. :/

WORK: I must try to remember to take things one step at a time and not get burdened with a pile up of things to do. No more procrastination! This means making more consistent blog posts, even if it ‘s just a few photos here and there. When I started this blog, I wanted it to be about my photographs, so I definitely need to take my camera out more often. Besides, what is the use of having a great Canon if you’re not going to use it, right?

SCHOOL: I need to stay organized and have a great workflow and routine so that weekends can be enjoyed. Stop procrastinating and delaying workloads until Thursdays and Fridays, because this always seems to make its way onto my weekends.

ART: Photograph every week! See more art. Visit more museums and galleries this year. Work on at least one major art project for myself.

I’m really excited to see my little plant go from almost dying to thriving, and the kids have been pretty good about not picking at my plants too much.

Magic Bullet, you are me new best friend!

the last hurrah…

dining out

My friends and I finally got together for a belated Christmas dinner last Tuesday to celebrate the end of 2012 and exchange a few presents with one another. Tuesdays & Thursdays are steak nights at MKT Bar downtown, so we took advantage of that and most of us enjoyed some delicious 12 ounce chops with chimichurri sauce and frites. And even though I’ve never been a huge pita fan, I have to say the pita chips here are pretty damn good. I’ll have to come back and check out the Phoenician market that’s located inside the same building next time. I hear the olive bar is top notch!
