old Shepard

in the Mood for...

A few images from  a familiar street. You know that feeling when you are so used to driving down a certain road, you can almost drive down  it without thinking about it. I love Shepard Street. The way it’s so melancholy at 2 Am in the morning, the way Grace Church lights up so vividly at dusk. I love seeing the old vintage Sears that my family used to hang around when I was younger. I love driving by Adolf Hoepel’s auto shop and saying the name out loud… Adolf Hoepel…I love seeing the yellow flowers blooming in the hidden garden right before I turn to get on the highway…

The weekend starts early for me tomorrow. I think I’ll take my old Canon out to Jensen for a photo session.

food

Enjoying one of my favorite meals this afternoon. Rice with fried tofu, garlic sauteed water spinach, Chinese sausage, and my mom’s amazing tamarind infused tomato soup topped off with a few chopped sprigs of rice paddy herb for an extra hint of sourness. Classic Vietnamese ingredients, I could eat a million of these bowls.

fashion

Picked up this beautiful Cote D’Ivoire dress today at the thrift store. It’s one of those Zachary’s Smile White Label dresses that I used to see in Anthropologie in a variety of unique tribal patterns. I’m not a huge fan of tribal prints, but the simple chartreuse in this dress just called out to me from the rack. And it reminds me of my walls at home and this lovely painting that was done and given to me by an old friend.

… a brand spanking new box of light blue. Oh man, I really needed this, I’ve been using the last drops of my last bottle for the past month.
