Loves

Was it just me or did anyone else gasped delightfully when Dolores Umbridge showed up in the latest Harry Potter film donning a pink knitted cat scarf? I’m drooling over this knitted fox scarf from Anthropologie right now. It’s so amazing!

Books / snail mail

Just received some more goodies in the mail today. This year is going to be the internet Christmas shopping year for me. 1. Because I’m addicted to Amazon, and 2. it’s so damn convenient!

Issue 4 to add to the collection, and some art books for more inspiration. I’ve been occupied with the new Sherlock Holmes series on PBS’s Masterpiece Theater, but I think tonight’s a good time to get started on those McSweeney’s I’ve been collecting.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I appreciate and love Thanksgiving more and more every year!

I’m thankful for all my family
and friends and

the little things that make me smile,
like cranberry sauce
and mini pumpkin tarts…

Or discovering that things fall into place
when you least expect it to…

The way my cat Joey plays with socks
when he thinks no one is watching…

Like finding a Kiwi statuette,
or the cutest knitted lion at Target,
or getting to that littlest matyroshka doll after all those layers…

flowering pear trees

Potpourri

These trees should be blooming soon. When I was younger, these white flowers would litter the entire bike path around the old apartment complex we used to live in. I remember picking these flowering branches in my little basket and bringing them home after a ride around the neighborhood. The seeds look like miniature asian pairs and I would always try to find a pair of seeds because it reminded me of cherries. And during those early college years, I remember walking down from the art building and seeing these white trees basking in the light of the street lamps around dusk. The first real owl I ever saw was staring down at me through one of these trees. The owl wasn’t much larger than a cantaloupe, but its big round eyes were scary.
