Just had the opening for HCP’s 27th Anniversary Juried Membership Exhibition this Friday. All the work look so good on the wall and Katherine Ware did a great job with her selection. I know this sounds silly, but I was tempted all night to stand by my work and eavesdrop on everyone who was looking at it. It must be one of those beginners thing. Perhaps, with more experience and more shows under my belt, I can act a little more nonchalant about having my work on the wall. Although, several people did approached me to say how much they loved my work. So I’m going to take a moment out here and do a little jig and high five myself, because even after all that has been said, I am really proud of this last series. A Series on My Mother has been a very difficult journey with many questions and doubts and some triumphs. I’m going to say it’s a good stopping point for this series. I don’t believe the work will ever end. Hopefully, like Jacobs said, one day I can pick up right where I left off and find that I have another journey to explore.
Anyway. I ramble. I’m going to be trading one of my prints with another artist from the show, so I can’t wait to take a look at her other work in her portfolio. You can check out her work here. Although, as of right now, I’m really drawn to Jockey #03 or this one
Here are some works that I found really delightful. Some are in the exhibition at HCP, and some were not accepted. I had the opportunity to put together the slideshow for all of those artists who were not accepted, and found some works that were really neat.
