RIP Mark Linkous
I first heard Sparklehorse while trying to find Bob Dylan’s Desire in the record store a few years back. It was Shade and Honey playing…”I can look at your face, for a thousand years…” It was one of those moments where I actually stood there, just listening to the song from start to end. It was the last vinyl and I told the clerk I’d like to buy it if he took it off the record player. I went home that day with Desire, Honky Dory and Dreamt for Light Years in the Belly of a Mountain and spent a good few months listening to that song in my room on my record player when it was still working, and in my car on long drives all over town.
For that time when we left that place. You asked me a question. I didn’t want to say anything to ruin that moment. I was driving down that same road, the air was chilly and I stuck my hand out the window to feel it through my fingers. We just listened.
