So my brother does this thing where he gets a bunch of movies to watch and I always brush them off because I am elitist like that ( 45 percent of the time). It’s mostly foreign films from Hong Kong or Korea and those American ones that I’d rather not pay to watch in the theaters. However, there are times when I watch these movies at work, because I have nothing else to do, and find myself really enjoying some of these aforementioned films. Case in point, New Town Killers. A British indie thriller about this rich guy who hunts down boys of lower economic status for fun. Its got Dougray Scott as the rich psychopathic fiend, who by the way, is one of those amazingly under-appreciated actors. You know, those supporting actors who aren’t getting their awards worth for their subtle and amazing performances because everything is a popularity contest in Hollywood. The list includes the likes of Ed Norton, several comedians, Tim Roth, and Steve Buscemi, etc, etc. Anyway, I digress. The movie is a gem if you have time to rent it. I’m always down for a good thriller that keeps me at the edge of my seat. I file this under awesome Brit films along with Green Street Hooligans and Trainspotting; none of that Crank/Transporter trash please.
