So after fawning over a headband from Anthropologie for some time now, I decided to make my own. I mean, really, $30 for a headband is just ridiculous! It turned out to be so simple and really fun to make. I used some Chanel pink-colored felt, a peony flower template from the craft queen, Martha Stewart, and a leather headband I’d had lying around for some time now. The brown headband and the turquoise from the aquamarine bead really work well together. Although now it looks like a giant gardenia instead, but I’m so happy with the outcome!

I’m debating on a new paint job for the room. It’s been almost two years since I last painted it chartreuse, but now with the pink desk I just purchased for my computer, it only seems that the yellow is clashing with the pinks. I know I want a gray because it could be warm and cold depending on the light. But picking out a neutral gray is probably harder than picking out another color. Maybe I’ll just tack the entire wall with paint samples and pins and call it a day. It might actually look better.
Anyway. Feeling much better today as far as sinuses go. I can finally smell! Today I had to drive the Mother downtown for her jury duty summons. Luckily for her though, she won’t be participating because she can’t speak English (but mostly because black people scare her). That courthouse is the most depressing place ever. Everyone looks miserable in there. I know my summons is coming in the mail in the future and I’m probably not going to be able to claim exemption like my mother. Sucks ass hairs. Well, the good thing about driving your mom around town for errands is that she buys you all the rambutans and logans you can eat! Take that Vietnam!

Been feeling horrible the past few days. Somehow, I always manage to get a cold during the summer. It’s probably heat exhaustion since the Summerfest and the constant change in weather. But, I’ve managed to keep preoccupied with some new projects. I picked up several bundles of felt yesterday and started making some flower head pieces for the fall. It’s a lot more satisfying to see everything “bloom” into completion after researching the how to’s online and through books. I’ve got so many ideas and after last night, I’ve been so excited to just come home and start sewing again. Will update some pics later of my creations!
Also picked up some magazines for some late night reading. But that might be another bad idea because I always get inspired to do something afterward. It’s really frustrating not having a large space to go into and start working when you have a brain spurt. Anyway…

I wish I had seen this installation in person. The light quality looks really luminous. I’d like to try this process on one of my TV Stills. I think the spectral quality from the LED lights would really bring the stills back to life. I’ve been playing around with some 3-dimension tweaking here and there to the images, but this might be a more interesting way to see it.

Found these beautiful Mitsumata branches while researching Manzanita ones. I was looking into getting some Manzanita branches for a Thanksgiving centerpiece, but I think I’m going to go with the Mitsumata ones instead. I like the white coloring on it. It’s very clean and modern. You can bend it to your will after soaking them in water. That’s a really cool idea.! I’d like to experiment making a bird cage or a lighting fixture of some sort later on. Check out this guy’s creation here. It looks really simple and easy to do.
Just saw a great episode of House Hunters International. This British couple is looking for a ruin in Portugal and it seems just so awesome. They seem like a really fun couple. They finally decided on the house that I really love. Wow what I wouldn’t give for a property like that. Just watch! Life in Ruins
