going retro again

Wish List

Going retro is looking better these days. More things to add to my wish list:

Minox Rolleiflex mini digital camera

With companies like Apple churning out new iPhones and Tablets every year, its hard for me not to yearn for more simpler things in life. But than again, a little technological advancement couldn’t hurt either. I saw this Minox digital camera today and it just looks so darn cute. Although, it’s only got 3.1 megapixels and it has mixed reviews so far, it’s still a neat item for avid camera collectors out there who can’t decide between the old and the new. Maybe if they start making this camera with a higher megapixel and in a larger format , I’d like to have it for my collection one day. It would be so awesome to shoot with the lens capabilities of a medium format camera and also getting those quick digital outputs.

Gran Turismo Donna bicycle

The lines are so sleek on this bike. The cognac leather seats are a definite plus along with the chain covers. And the tires are definitely pleasing since I’m not too fond of balloon tires.

FELT inspiration!

This is too awesome for words. More because I’m currently reading Catcher in the Rye at this very moment. This has really got my itching to pick up some needles soon. I have some ideas for some birthday invitations I want to make for my friends. Im pretty sure it won’t be as amazing as this book cover, but it’s worth a try!

These DIY decorations looks so fun and whimsical for weddings and parties, especially the homemade photobooth backdrop below. It’s all made from paper and fabric, which I love.

I’m really into commercial wedding photography to tell you the truth.  Since growing up, I’ve come to expect cheesy airbrushed photography like those posed ones from Glamour Shots and from Vietnamese weddings. But I probably wouldn’t mind working for a company like Labor of Love. Most of their photos capture really sweet and candid moments in unconventional ways. Like this picture.

Fall Movie previews, excitement ensues

film

One of my favorite directors, Jane Campion’s new movie looks so good already. If you haven’t seen any of her work I highly recommend The Piano and one of my all time favorites, An Angel at My Table.

Maurice Sendak + Spike Jonze = like having the most deliciously scrumptious ice cream fudge sunday on a hot July Saturday

Can’t deny that I have been waiting for this to come our since Paris, Je T’aime

Ok I was pretty skeptical about another Tim Burton movie re-adaptation of a classic ever since Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but this trailer really looks like it’s going to be an amazing version of Alice in Wonderland.

because I heart Audrey Tatou.

This Terry Gilliam film already looks epic. It could be really amazing or really weird. We’ll see.

Summerfest, Sunday. the last hurrah

audio / recollections

Despite the unbearable heat wave throughout the afternoons

despite the untraceable body odor lingering throughout the crowds

and inescapable wafts of marijuana

and some mysterious skunk stench that came and went as surprisingly as the breeze

despite the lousy organizational skills from the FreePress camp

despite the pain in your ass, literally, from sitting at a hard angle on a hill

despite a rain scare on Sunday

despite crazies on acid frolicking around

Yes, despite all the adversities, we managed to have a hell of a time on top of that hill. And for two memorable days in August, we sat together and watched some amazing performances take place on that small stage.

We left Saturday in awed silence as Explosions in the Sky captivated us with their staggering and emotional set. And when Of Montreal took the stage on Sunday, the crowd stood up in excitement before Kevin Barnes could even touch the microphone because we just knew he wasn’t going to let us down .

I walked away that night feeling satisfied and kind of sad because the weekend was over too soon. But it made me feel better when I thought about Ro’s stupid joke, “maybe we’ll mend our circle of friend’s broken social scene.” Well, it was something to remember for sure.

A snow explosion during their performance of A Sentence of Sorts in Kongsvinger. [The camera shaking that you notice and absolutely hate at the moment is me having difficulties viedotaping and balancing on a slippery hillside]
