in the backyard / Life

… Spending time in the backyard. The cats were pretty excited and anxious to be let out today. Maggie’s eyes were so dilated from all the bird tweeting and chirping from the trees and Joey, who is like an old man with those drooping eyes, laid by the open door until he gathered enough courage to come outside and chase a few birds along the fence.

… I’m still deciding on what to fill my new pots with for the classroom. I love the rawness of these clay pots and this hand painted bowl I managed to nab for five bucks at the Guild Shop will make a better planter.

… The kumquat flowers are ready to bloom and the shrub has grown dramatically this past year. Here’s hoping for a big harvest this year!

… freshly picked cilantro

… picking into the neighbor’s backyard. They’ve been negligent but somehow these roses seem to be thriving without them.

Life

My sister turned her big 30 this year. I think the year has been off to a good start so far. We have lots to look forward to in the future and nothing seems to be holding us back thus far. It’s been a bit tough these last two years, with me trying to figure out what I want to do in life, but I think after getting this teaching job and starting this photography company, I at least have a good idea of where I would like things to go in the future. And the future 30 is not so far for me either. In the meantime, I’ll have to learn to embrace my freckles, the never-ending case of  tangled hair and my affinity for junk food as a good thing. Random images (for some reason, reminds me of my childhood) from our beach house this past March. I love this photo of my sister. It reminds me of days in the sun with my Radioflyer and catching dragonflies and mosquitoes with our brothers, and playing wishbone with blades of grass.

Images from our beach house stay. We celebrated my sister’s big golden birthday at a beach house this year. A few images. Rocky came along and it as fun to let him loose on the beach. I think I’m ready for another vacation. One more month to go and then I can start planning a nice, relaxing get away…sigh

The flamingo bedsheets were so such a delightful to me!

This past weekend, I was able to get quite a bit of  my own work done. My sister and I spent a good day at her house to finally get our photo session for our new venture in Poshmark done with. It’s been on the back burner for a while now and we’ve got so much clothing and shoes to sell…. . If you’re on Poshmark, look for us in Pomona! A few favorites below.

inspiration

Starting next week, I’ll be teaching clay for the first time. The kids are really really excited for this. I’m making them incorporate some kind of animal into their functional clay pieces. These ceramics by KuSeFuNe are really getting me inspired!

…I’m off to the craft supply store to get some polymer clay. I’ve been dying to have time to make some clay jewelry pieces, inspired by these Delighted Momma tutorials.
