Various flavored macarons are so delicious, it makes the drive to midtown on an early Saturday worth it.

A little cupcake necklace for Jocelyn, who is the cutest person I’ve ever met.

My favorite part of the party planning was making all the flower arrangements. I’m not much for having a perfect arrangement. I prefer the “I just picked it from my garden” look. Finally a great opportunity to put those vintage glasses and vases to good use.

These She Says, He Says game cards were a fun collaboration with the bride and groom. Inspired by this.

I love love these yellow acacia blooms. They really brighten up the room. And these alstroemeria flowers are economically cheap and pretty for a simple arrangement.

Hor d’oeurves and croissant sandwiches. Bacon wrapped water chestnuts, pineapple teriyaki meatballs, petite pate chauds, pesto basil pasta, and my brother’s special crab bruschetta cakes. (A big Thanks!! to our friends, and especially the guys who took the helm at the last hour to grill all the food!)
The last week has been a whirlwind of crafting and decorating and cooking and last minute details, but everything came together beautifully for my sister’s bridal shower this past Sunday. I threw her a garden tea party themed shower since she loves both so much . I started with a simple color palette of chartreuse, bright and pale pinks, pastel turquoise, and mustard, but I think it became an explosion of colors by the end, which is fine by me. I’m not much of a matching type person. There’s quite a few photos I want to share, so this post is going to be divided into several editions. Only a few more weeks until the big wedding day!

January is definitely an ideal month to load up on clearance Christmas decorations and Valentine goodies. These woody critters are so damn cute.

Pink paper crepe flowers and an orchid plant. A gift for my sister, who is desperately trying to get that green thumb working.

Hot tea, John Audubon and those white crepe paper roses I’ve been working on these last few weeks. It’s an ode to the Queen of Hearts. These little teapots are a sweet last minute find at the Guild Shop.

A sweet mantle for the almost newlyweds. Pom poms and flowers everywhere.

Sundays are made to be lazy all day, especially when the weather is so dreary and foggy outside, but since I had Sunday off this week, the Phamily decided to try out a new dim sum restaurant that just opened near our house. The dim sum was decent and the selection is sparse, but at least it’s good to know there’s a dim sum restaurant around the corner if I ever get a craving.
Tuan and Kevin had a get together for all the groomsmen also later in the day which later turned into the boys watching football while the girls tried to get some more crafting done for the bridal shower. We loaded up on hot wings and pizza and edamame, which seems to be a big part of our staple diet so far this month. And one last minute trip to 99 Ranch meant loading up on some of those delicious Korean bakery buns filled with an assortment of meats, creams, coconut, custards, and BBQ pork. The baker gave us two boxes full for $3! Everything is made fresh everyday, so we couldn’t resist the temptation to say yes! These will be awesome for breakfast for the next week. Our family loves this stuff. (FYI: the bakery is buy one get one free after 6pm!)
