Get ’em while its hot. I’m debating whether to get one or not. The entire six series is also pretty tempting. I’m just glad I got to see these guys live when I could.

I’m so excited!

This week will be dedicated to making these handcrafted crepe paper flowers. Martha Stewart templates never fail me. Two dozen down, and only about a hundred more flowers and strings of paper pom-poms left. Whoo-hoo! Procrastination leads to pressure which then leads to all nighters. But I’ve always worked well under last minute pressures.

Got these cheese domes at the thrift store along with a heavy brass candlestick that I’m debating on whether to repaint or not. I’m quite fond of the wood grains. These will look extremely cute on the dessert table.

This last week has been a whirlwind of food and family and friends. But now that the holidays are drawing to a close, the “Monica Gellar” in me is beginning to feel the stress of the upcoming nuptials and bridal shower planning. I finally tested out some recipes for the shower, spicy ponzu noodles with cilantro and seared scallops and a citrus tilapia ceviche. Ceviche is harder than it looks, but the scallops received two thumbs up from the bride and groom, so we’re good to go on that.

The holiday high is beginning to settle down on me. Time for the new year, which is already filling up with so many projects for me to do. Excitement and neurosis ensues. Thought I’d share these quirky little things I received for Christmas that are brightening up my day.
Introducing, Canadian and Japanese Hello Kittys, to add to the crew, and the beginning of my Penguin Classics book collection.
This year, my brother got everyone these miniature Van Gogh canvas prints, which I thought was really thoughtful.
Ok. So my mom has this thing about collecting animal figurines that correspond with her children’s Chinese zodiac signs. I, being born on the year of the Rat, received this from her. She is so cute. Only she would mistake an armadillo for a rat, but I love it. Hey, I’m from Texas, what do you expect?
Putting this sweet thing to use regularly. I love the scallop details and you know how I love those old lady handbags.
