art / inspiration

Its been a few months since I’ve been truly productive. The difference this time, though, is that there are actually creative ideas dancing in my head right now. My professor Stephen said that it didn’t matter what you ended up doing after graduation, as long as you remained creative. That was the crucial part of being an artist. So…in between my desperation to find a career, I am making a very big effort stop being lazy and to make some art really really soon.

Idea : hair portraits
Idea : skin diary
Idea : experimentaions in the 3-dimensional
Idea : 100 Days with Rudy in response to the death of Rudy Mimi Nasa Johnson and inspired by Sophie Calle

walton ford
Pigeons by Walton Ford

I discovered Walton Ford by watching Art: 21, (which if you have not seen it already, I highly reccomend you Netflix it right away). you can see the process that Ford goes through in making each meticulous watercolor or print. i’ve always been a fan of old Audubon watercolors, but Ford takes it to a whole other leverl with these large prints. I wish I could see one in person one day.

Staircase by Do-ho-Suh

Another amazing artist that I am in complete awe of. This guy. He sews these gorgeous reproductions of his childhood home from Korea using these ethereal fabrics. I have seen one of his pieces during the Red hot exhibition at the MFAH awhile back, but the Korean house remains on my must-see list.

Dear Spielberg,

I heard recently that you were planning on remaking the classic “Old Boy” with Will Smith as the main character. But before you start rollin in with the production gang I just wanted to say FUCK YOU for thinking you’re such a big-time hot shot American director who thinks he can make a cult classic like “Old Boy” any better. I’m filing you under the Senile Asshole Directors file along with Scorsese who won that pity Oscar for “the Departed”, and those idiots who tried to remake “A Tale of Two Sisters” and failed miserably. You know what SUCKberg? You screwed up Indiana Jones, and ET wasn’t all that either, so take your millions and retire to Fuji. Don’t dissapoint me.
